What is Varicocele?
Varicocele The enlargement that can occur in the testis veins starting from puberty is varicose. Varicocele occurs in 15% of all men and is the most common cause of infertility in men.
What are varicocele indications?
The varicocele is manifested by pain, swelling, occasional shrinkage, and sometimes changes in semen content and consistency, especially in standing on the testis.
How do you diagnose a Varicocele?
The varicocele is diagnosed basically by clinical examination and confirmed by Color Doppler ultrasonography (USG). The testes and genital area are observed when the patient is standing in a warm room and being examined in a lying position. The patient is inspected both in normal position and in outward maneuver and by eye and hand. The normal and evacuation maneuver should determine whether there is expansion in the vasculature. The varicocele that can not be detected by physical examination but is determined by imaging methods is called "subclinical varicocele". Scrotal colored doppler USG, Venography, Thermography and Scintigraphy can be used as auxiliary imaging methods.
Subclinical Varicocele: It can not be determined by physical examination, it is revealed radiologically.
• Grade I Varicocele: Varicocele that does not show signs of being at rest, but is detected by haemorrhage.
• Grade II Varicocele: When standing, the collecting vessels may be seen by examination but not visibly noticeable
• Grade III Varicocele: A varicose that can be seen from the outside without any need for clearing.
How is varicocele treatment done?
The most effective treatment for varicocele is the surgeon. Varicocel operations performed under the microscope are of great importance today.
When infertile couples are asked to treat varicocele, the duration of infertility, varicocele grade, age, FSH level, preoperative motile sperm count and varicocele induced complaints should be considered.
Varicose surgery in couples asking for children? IVF treatment?
* If the woman has a complaint of infertility, direct tube baby therapy is recommended instead of surgery for the man.
* If there is a long marriage period, if the woman's age is advanced, if the woman's ovarian reserve is decreased again, direct in vitro fertilization treatment is done.
* If pregnancy does not occur despite successful varicocele treatment, it will be transferred to IVF treatment.
